Successful Criterium organised by Shamrock Stars Sports Club in Ta’ Sannat

Shamrock Stars Sports Club successfully organised its cycling criterium in Ta’ Sannat, held in accordance with the regulations of the Malta Cycling Federation. Blessed with excellent weather conditions, the event delivered a full programme of competitive races across a wide range of categories, attracting strong participation.
The day began with the Kids’ races before moving on to the Women’s, Masters 40+, Masters 50+, Juniors, and Elite categories, ensuring a dynamic and engaging schedule throughout.
In the Boys’ Under-12 race, contested over a 2.4km lap, Zachary Vella of Mosta CC secured victory ahead of teammates Raphael Buhagiar and Nolan Tabone. The Under-14 Boys category saw Ethan Cumbo of Team Greens take first place after three laps, followed by Kurt Grech (Mosta CC) and Ayden Vella (D Sports Lab). In the corresponding girls’ race, Mickaya Fava of Shamrock Stars Sports Club emerged victorious.
The Under-16 Boys race, run over five laps, was won by Neil Cassar of Team Greens, who finished ahead of Gop Ping (Bike It Up Racing) and Jake Refalo (Shamrock Stars Sports Club). In the girls’ event, Zia Fiji of Shamrock Stars Sports Club claimed first place, followed by Nina Debono Curmi (D Sports Lab) and Katie-Anne Vella Wood.
In the Masters 40+ category, held over three laps after a combined 30 minutes, Liran Ben-Ari of Agones SFC took the win, with Team Greens riders Arek Kawalek and Gesred Borg finishing second and third respectively. The Masters 50+ race was won by David Cushing of Bike It Up Racing, ahead of Joseph Caruana of Team Greens.
The Juniors category, contested over one lap following 40 minutes of racing, saw Andrei Cassone of Agones SFC emerge on top.
In the Women’s race, Lindsey Pirotta delivered a strong performance to secure victory over three laps after 30 minutes, with Michelle Vella Wood and Katinka Zahra Lehtonen, both of Team Greens, completing the podium.
The Elite race proved to be one of the highlights of the day. After 40 minutes of racing and three laps, the contest was decided in a final sprint, where Antoine Magaud of Agones SFC edged ahead of two Bike It Up Racing cyclists to take the win.
Shamrock Stars Sports Club expressed its gratitude to all participating cyclists, club officials, and supporters. Appreciation was also extended to the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, Sannat Local Council, Transport Malta, the Police, the Emergency Response & Rescue Corps, marshals, volunteers, and Malta Cycling Federation Secretary General Joe Bajada for their support in ensuring the smooth and successful organisation of the event.
