Stuttgart seal crucial European win over Van Persie’s Feyenoord after late comeback

Late goals from Bilal El Khannouss and Deniz Undav handed VfB Stuttgart a crucial 2–0 victory over Robin van Persie’s Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League, as the Dutch side were left to regret missed chances and costly errors.
Both teams entered the match with identical records — one win and two defeats from their opening three games — knowing that victory would provide a major boost in their bid to advance from the League Phase.
The first half was a cagey affair, with few clear openings. Feyenoord’s brightest moment came in the 13th minute when Anis Hadj Moussa tested Alexander Nübel, but the Stuttgart goalkeeper reacted sharply to keep the scores level.
Feyenoord continued to look the more dangerous side after the break, with Ayase Ueda twice going close. Stuttgart, meanwhile, struggled to find their rhythm until the 69th minute, when Deniz Undav finally drew a save from Timon Wellenreuther — a sign that momentum was beginning to shift.
That pressure paid off late on. In the 84th minute, Lorenz Assignon delivered a precise cross that El Khannouss met with a deft header to give Stuttgart the breakthrough they had been searching for.
As Feyenoord pushed forward in search of an equaliser, they were caught out in stoppage time. Christian Führich broke free on the counter and squared the ball to Undav, who calmly tapped home to seal the win and spark celebrations at the MHPArena.
The result lifted Stuttgart 10 places in the Europa League standings to 20th, with six points from four matches. Feyenoord, meanwhile, remain in the elimination zone and will be desperate to respond when they host Celtic in Rotterdam on November 27.
