Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart has been handed a seven-game suspension by the NBA following a brawl in Monday’s 110-104 win over the Charlotte Hornets, with three other players also disciplined.

Stewart was penalised for leaving the bench during the altercation, aggressively entering the fray, and engaging in a fight. The league cited his history of repeated unsportsmanlike conduct as a factor in the length of the ban.

Charlotte Hornets forwards Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate each received four-game suspensions for fighting and escalating the incident, while Pistons center Jalen Duren was suspended for two games for initiating and participating in the fight.

All four players were ejected with 7:09 left in the third quarter after the melee began when Diabate committed a defensive foul on Duren.

Stewart and Duren will start serving their suspensions on Wednesday when Detroit faces Toronto. Bridges and Diabate will begin theirs when Charlotte hosts Atlanta.

Stewart, who will forfeit over $724,000 in salary, will be sidelined until the Pistons’ March 3 matchup at Cleveland. He has been averaging 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds this season.

Duren, an NBA All-Star this week, is expected to participate in Sunday’s All-Star Game in Los Angeles. He averages 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds for the Pistons, who top the Eastern Conference at 39-13.

Bridges, averaging 18.2 points and 6.1 rebounds, and Diabate, with 8.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, will be eligible to return on February 24 when the Hornets visit Chicago.
