Steelers knock out Dolphins with crucial victory

Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes as the Pittsburgh Steelers moved closer to the playoffs with a 28-15 win over the Miami Dolphins on Monday.
The Steelers quarterback showcased precision passing in the freezing conditions at Acrisure Stadium, completing 23 of 27 attempts for 224 yards without throwing an interception.
Pittsburgh’s victory officially ended Miami’s playoff hopes while solidifying the Steelers’ position atop the AFC North. With three regular-season games remaining, Pittsburgh improved to 8-6, holding a one-game lead over the Baltimore Ravens, who sit at 7-7.
“This is why I wanted to come back — to be a part of something special,” said Rodgers, 42, who joined Pittsburgh this year after two injury-marred seasons with the New York Jets. “This is a great organization. We’re playing meaningful football games, we’re up by a game in the division — there’s a lot left to play for.”
The Steelers led just 7-3 at halftime, thanks to a one-yard rushing touchdown by Connor Heyward. But after the break, Pittsburgh surged, scoring 21 unanswered points on touchdowns from Marquez Valdes-Scantling, DK Metcalf, and Jonnu Smith, taking a commanding 28-3 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Miami’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa connected with Darren Waller for two late touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough. The Dolphins fell to 6-8, officially eliminating them from postseason contention.
