Liverpool manager Arne Slot blamed fatigue after his side conceded a 95th-minute winner at Bournemouth, falling 3-2 in the Premier League despite battling back from a two-goal deficit on Saturday.

The reigning champions have struggled to replicate last season’s dominance, losing seven league matches and finding it difficult to break down teams they once routinely overcame during their 2024/25 title campaign.

“For the last five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 games, we’ve mainly had to rely on the same players,” Slot said in post-match interviews. “Sometimes, by the end of the game, a few of them are understandably a bit tired. I think that showed today.”

Bournemouth had raced into a 2-0 lead before Dominik Szoboszlai’s 80th-minute equaliser drew Liverpool level at 2-2, setting up a frenetic finale.

“Both teams were pushing for a winner,” Slot added. “They had better opportunities than us in the last 10 minutes, and in the end a long throw led to a goal. I also think the officials could have allowed more added time. Four minutes wasn’t enough, but ultimately they scored.”

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola praised his team’s resilience and their response to Liverpool’s comeback.

“It is a massive win for us because we were in a difficult situation,” he told the BBC. “We’re finding ways to get points against tough opponents. I’m very proud of the team, how we’re adapting, and the points we’re taking from games like this.”
