Lecce ended a run of four consecutive defeats but remain Serie A’s lowest scorers, drawing a blank for the fourth time in five matches in a goalless home stalemate against Lazio. The result leaves the visitors further adrift of the European places, having won just once in seven league games.

With both sides collectively managing only one win since 13 December, it was no surprise that the opening 20 minutes were cagey. Lecce came closest first when Lassana Coulibaly latched onto a loose ball and fired a first-time shot from 25 yards, forcing a full-stretch save from Ivan Provedel. Santiago Pierotti’s follow-up effort then sailed over the bar.

Those early opportunities set the tone for the remainder of the first half, with Lecce enjoying the lion’s share of possession and territory. Their next significant chance came in the 39th minute, when Ylber Ramadani unleashed a 25-yard strike that cannoned off the crossbar with Provedel beaten. Lazio, by contrast, failed to register a single shot before the break.

The second half began with more urgency from the visitors. Within two minutes, Lazio produced two blocked attempts, before Boulaye Dia forced Wladimiro Falcone into a sharp save after connecting with a Mattia Zaccagni through ball. As the half progressed, Lecce began to regain momentum, with Ramadani and Walid Cheddira testing Provedel from distance, though without success.

The closest either side came to a winner thereafter was a drilled free-kick from Riccardo Sottil in the 74th minute, which Provedel parried, and Kenneth Taylor narrowly missing from 20 yards following a fluid Lecce move.

The point secures Lecce their second clean sheet in 11 matches, lifting them just out of the relegation zone. Lazio, meanwhile, have now conceded only once in their last four away games, but the draw leaves them losing ground in the battle for a top-six finish.
