Benjamin Sesko has voiced his support for Michael Carrick to be appointed as Manchester United’s permanent head coach after leading the team close to securing a Champions League spot.

A 2-1 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday lifted United to third place in the Premier League, putting them 11 points ahead of sixth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion with just four matches left to play.

With the top five teams qualifying for next season’s Champions League, United now require only two more points to seal their return to Europe’s top competition after a two-year absence.

“He’s an incredible coach — I’ve said that many times,” said Sesko, who scored his 10th league goal of the campaign in the win over Brentford.

“He’s brought a new energy to the team. The way we train now is unbelievable, and of course, I’d love for him to stay.”

Michael Carrick, who stepped in as interim head coach in January following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, has earned strong backing from several Manchester United players, including Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo.

Veteran Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has enjoyed an impressive season, scoring nine Premier League goals, including the opener in the win over Brentford.

“Casemiro is like a machine,” Sesko said. “What he delivers on the pitch is incredible. Every team needs a player like him.”

Manchester United now turn their attention to a huge Premier League clash against arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
