Sergio Ramos closing in on ownership stake at Sevilla

Former Spain international Sergio Ramos is close to purchasing his boyhood club Sevilla after reportedly reaching an agreement with major shareholders alongside investment group Five Eleven Capital, according to Spanish media on Tuesday.
Spanish newspaper El País reports that the deal is valued at around €400 million and involves approximately 80% of the club’s total shares, with each share estimated at €3,500.
The proposed transaction still requires approval from both LaLiga and the Spanish National Sports Council before it can be officially finalised.
Sevilla have been ever-present in LaLiga since the 2001/02 season, but the Andalusian side are currently battling relegation this campaign following a disappointing run of results.
The club, who lifted the Europa League title in 2022/23, currently sit 13th in the table but are just three points clear of the relegation zone with three matches remaining. They narrowly avoided the drop last season, finishing 17th, only one point above the bottom three.
Ramos, a World Cup winner with Spain and two-time European Championship winner, came through Sevilla’s youth academy before moving to Real Madrid in 2005, where he went on to win 22 major trophies.
