Sam Kerr continued her record-breaking spell at Chelsea FC on Sunday, scoring her 64th goal for the club in the Women’s Super League to become their all-time leading scorer in the competition.

The 32-year-old forward rose to meet a cross from Niamh Charles, heading home in the 13th minute of Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The goal moved Kerr ahead of Fran Kirby at the top of Chelsea’s WSL scoring charts.

Speaking after the match, Kerr said she was proud to reach the milestone while representing the club.

“I’m absolutely stoked to break the record, it feels amazing to be in the same category as some of those players,” she said in a message to fans on Chelsea’s social media.

“But I’m absolutely honoured and it’s been amazing to score 64 goals in front of all of you — let’s finish off the season strong.”

Sam Kerr is also Australia women’s national soccer team’s all-time leading scorer, with 75 goals in 139 international appearances. She has also been the standout striker in the Women’s Super League, winning the Golden Boot in both the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons with 21 and 20 goals respectively.
