Ryan Bugeja emerged victorious in the MSSF Trap Competition 50+50+25 (2-2026), held at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club on Sunday.

Bugeja delivered a superb performance throughout the event, finishing with an impressive score of 121 out of 125 to secure first place overall. His result also earned him the MSSF Minimum Qualifying Score (MQS).

Gianluca Chetcuti claimed second place after registering 117/125 and winning a shoot-off against Brian Galea, who also finished on 117/125 to take third place overall. Both shooters also achieved the MQS standard.

The competition began with all participants shooting at 50 targets, with the top 12 competitors advancing to the second phase of another 50 targets. Following the 100-target stage, the six shooters with the lowest scores were eliminated, leaving the top six athletes to battle it out over a final 25 targets.

After the opening 50 targets, Ryan Bugeja and Emmanuel Bugeja shared the lead on 48/50, followed closely by Gianluca Chetcuti and Brian Galea on 47/50.

At the 100-target mark, Ryan Bugeja remained in control with a score of 97/100, ahead of Chetcuti on 95/100 and Brian Galea on 93/100.

In the decisive final stage, Ryan Bugeja maintained his consistency to seal victory with 121/125. Chetcuti edged Brian Galea in the shoot-off for second place, while James Galea Jr finished fourth with 115/125. Emmanuel Bugeja and Alan Abela completed the top six with scores of 113/125 and 110/125 respectively.
