Riemer makes sweeping changes to Denmark’s backline for crucial qualifier

Denmark will make significant changes to their defense for tonight’s crucial World Cup qualifying play-off against North Macedonia at Parken Stadium, fielding five new defenders compared to their last international match against Scotland.
With Joachim Andersen serving a ban and Andreas Christensen sidelined due to injury, coach Brian Riemer has chosen Christian Norgaard of Arsenal to anchor central defense alongside Victor Nelsson of Verona.
Between the posts, Denmark will hand Mads Hermansen his international debut after 32 appearances on the bench.
Riemer is also boosted by the return of Mikkel Damsgaard, who missed Brentford’s weekend fixture due to knee issues but has trained fully in Helsingore and is set to start.
Denmark’s starting lineup tonight will be:
Mads Hermansen – Alexander Bah, Christian Norgaard, Victor Nelsson, Joakim Maehle – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Morten Hjulmand, Victor Froholdt – Gustav Isaksen, Rasmus Hojlund, Mikkel Damsgaard.
