Qormi Daikin staged another impressive comeback in the EuroHockey Division 1 tournament after earning a dramatic 2-2 draw against HK Triglav Predanovci. For the second consecutive match, the Maltese side found themselves two goals behind but once again showed strong character to rescue an important result.

The hosts took a two-goal lead through Dsuban Domen and Mikola Tadej, but Qormi responded in the second half. Luke Bajada proved to be the key player for the Maltese outfit, scoring both goals that secured a valuable point for his side. The result left both teams level on points in Group A, while Qormi now look ahead to the prestigious final against Croatian giants HAHK Mladost.

Meanwhile, Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks concluded their EuroHockey Club Challenge II campaign in third place, ensuring Malta’s place in the competition for next season.

In their final match, the Maltese side suffered a 12-2 defeat against hosts HK Pomorzanin Torun. The Polish team dominated from the outset and quickly established a three-goal advantage. Adam Sobczak and Dmytro Luppa were the standout performers for the hosts, scoring four and three goals respectively.

Gary Bonnici and Jayden Cutajar scored the goals for Żurrieq. For Bonnici, it was his fifth goal of the tournament, capping what was a memorable competition for both him and his teammates.

The tournament also saw Gibraltar and Poland secure promotion to Challenge I, while Sweden and Lithuania were relegated to Challenge III. Malta, together with Wales and Hungary, retained their place in EuroHockey Club Challenge II.
