Qala Saints and Sannat Lions secure victories in Double-Header at Gozo Stadium


It was a decisive Saturday at the Gozo Stadium as two major knockout fixtures determined a finalist for the island’s top cup competition and crowned a champion in the second-tier knockout trophy.

Qala Saints secured their place in the BOV GFA Cup final with a professional 3-1 victory over SK Victoria Wanderers. In a match handled by referee Patrick Falzon, the Saints’ clinical finishing proved to be the difference.
The deadlock was broken late in the first half when Ibrahim Mohammed found the net in the 43rd minute. However, the Wanderers responded immediately after the interval, with Ender Duvan Alvarez Vielma leveling the score in the 46th minute to set up a tense second half.
The Saints regained control quickly; Nicholas Inguanez restored the lead in the 54th minute, and Ibrahim Mohammed sealed the result with his second goal of the afternoon in the 81st minute, ensuring Qala’s progression to the tournament showpiece.
GFA 2nd Division Knock Out: Sannat Lions Lift the Trophy

In the day’s earlier kick-off, Sannat Lions were crowned champions of the GFA 2nd Division Knock Out following a 2-0 win over Gharb Rangers.
Under the officiating of Adam Brighton, the first half remained a stalemate as both sides struggled to find a breakthrough. The Lions finally took charge in the second period, with Cyriel Buttigieg opening the scoring in the 52nd minute.
Just eight minutes later, Igor Nedeljkovic doubled the advantage, effectively ending the contest. Sannat managed the remaining half-hour with composure to secure the silverware and celebrate a hard-earned cup triumph.
