Cardona shines as St Etienne hold second place after late equaliser

St Etienne maintained their grip on second place in the table after rescuing a valuable point with a late equaliser away to Nancy.
The hosts made a strong start, opening the scoring after just six minutes to put St Etienne under early pressure. Despite creating opportunities, the visitors struggled to respond during the first half. Their best chance came in stoppage time before the break when they were awarded a penalty, but Davitashvili failed to convert from the spot.
St Etienne showed greater urgency after the interval and pushed forward in search of an equaliser. Their persistence finally paid off late in the match, thanks to a decisive contribution from Maltese international Irvin Cardona. The forward delivered an excellent assist for Stassin, who found the net to secure a crucial point.

Cardona was one of the standout performers on the pitch, producing an impressive display and playing a key role in his side’s attacking efforts.
The result ensures St Etienne remain in second place in the standings, although they have played one match more than their closest rivals.
