Pulisic surpasses Haaland as Europe’s most efficient attacker

Christian Pulisic is in the midst of an exceptional season, posting the best goals-per-minute ratio in Serie A and establishing himself as one of Europe’s most clinical attackers.
The American has been remarkably efficient in front of goal, ranking among the elite finishers across Europe’s top five leagues and even surpassing Erling Haaland on a minutes-per-goal basis.
After a turbulent campaign that saw AC Milan miss out on European qualification and cycle through two managers, the Rossoneri have reasserted themselves under Massimiliano Allegri. They currently sit second in the Serie A standings behind Inter, buoyed by the arrival of Luka Modrić, the emergence of Davide Bartesaghi, and the revival of Alexis Saelemaekers on the right flank.
Still, Milan’s primary attacking reference point has been Pulisic. The forward is on track for the most productive season of his career in red and black.
Serie A’s most efficient finisher
Pulisic has scored eight goals in just 14 league appearances, giving him the most efficient scoring rate in Serie A. His previous best tally for Milan stands at 12 goals, a figure that now appears well within reach.
Averaging one goal every 98 minutes, he leads the league in efficiency ahead of Ange-Yoan Bonny (one every 111 minutes) and teammate Rafael Leão (one every 121). Although Inter captain Lautaro Martínez tops the overall scoring chart with 10 goals, he has featured in five more matches than Pulisic, who trails by just two.
Among Europe’s elite
When penalties are excluded, Pulisic records the best goals-per-minute ratio among non-centre-forwards across Europe’s top five leagues. Overall, he ranks sixth on the continent, behind specialist strikers such as Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane, and Jonathan Burkardt.
With a goal every 98.3 minutes, Pulisic edges Haaland’s 101.5-minute average, despite the Norwegian’s higher raw goal total. Notably, the Milan star is the only attacking midfielder or wide forward among Europe’s most efficient scorers.
Now 27, Pulisic appears to be performing at full physical, technical, and mental maturity. His current numbers point toward a career-best campaign, underlining his importance to Milan and marking him out as Europe’s most efficient attacking midfielder this season.
