Inter Milan scored a stoppage-time winner to edge Juventus 3-2 in the 255th Derby d’Italia, a match that saw Andrea Cambiaso make history as the first player in Serie A to score both a goal and an own goal in the same game. The victory extended Inter’s lead at the top of the table to eight points.

The first 15 minutes were cagey, with neither side registering a shot, but the tempo quickly escalated into an enthralling opening half. Luis Henrique’s low cross deflected heavily off Cambiaso, wrong-footing goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio and resulting in an early Inter goal.

Juventus responded nine minutes later. Weston McKennie delivered a cross from the byline, and after Jonathan David failed to connect at the front post, Cambiaso was on hand at the back post to equalize.

Inter pressed to regain the lead, coming close when Piotr Zielinski attempted a delicate lob over Di Gregorio, only for Gleison Bremer to clear off the line. They nearly scored again before halftime as Marcus Thuram’s header fell to Alessandro Bastoni, whose point-blank strike hit the post and rebounded across the goal before bouncing off the opposite post.

Moments later, Juventus were reduced to 10 men after Pierre Kalulu received a second yellow card for a foul on Bastoni, leaving the French defender visibly frustrated.

Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer was kept busy in the second half, making key stops to deny Cambiaso, Manuel Locatelli, and McKennie. The hosts came alive again in the 76th minute as Hakan Calhanoglu and Thuram created space for Francesco Pio Esposito, who headed Federico Dimarco’s cross into the far post to make it 2-1.

Juve fought back, with Locatelli sweeping a first-time finish into the net seven minutes from time to level. Di Gregorio saved a header from Yann Bisseck, but he could not prevent Zielinski from firing a low strike through Locatelli’s legs in stoppage time to secure the win. A last-gasp effort from Ange-Yoan Bonny was cleared off the line by Teun Koopmeiners, but it made no difference.

The victory marked Inter’s sixth consecutive league win and extended their unbeaten Serie A run to 13 matches (W12, D1), putting them eight points clear of second-placed AC Milan, albeit with one game played more. Juventus, meanwhile, have won just once in their last five competitive matches (D2, L2), remaining fourth in the table for now.
