Pelicans star Zion Williamson sidelined following new injury

New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is set to miss time after suffering a Grade 2 strain to his right adductor. The 25-year-old has been ruled out of Tuesday night’s home matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to “right adductor soreness.”
Per ESPN, Williamson will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
The injury comes shortly after Williamson’s 25-point performance in Saturday’s 104–96 loss to the Golden State Warriors. He was sidelined the following night as the Pelicans fell 133–121 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
A two-time All-Star, Williamson is averaging 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists this season, though he has appeared in only 10 of New Orleans’ 21 games. The Pelicans have struggled early, managing just three wins so far.
Drafted first overall in 2019 out of Duke, Williamson has averaged 24.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists across 224 career starts in the NBA.
