No Kane, no problem: Bayern brush 10-man Gladbach aside to go 14 points clear

Bayern Munich showed no signs of slowing down in their march toward another Bundesliga title, beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 4–1 at the Allianz Arena to extend Die Fohlen’s winless away league run to seven matches.
Fresh from a crucial 3–2 victory over Borussia Dortmund that has all but sealed a record-extending 34th league crown, Bayern started brightly and thought they had taken an early lead when Lennart Karl found the net inside 10 minutes, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
While clear chances were limited during the opening half-hour, the hosts suffocated Gladbach’s attempts to play out from the back and eventually turned their dominance into a breakthrough. Leon Goretzka collected the ball from Kim Min-jae on the edge of the area and delicately chipped it into the path of Luis Díaz, who produced a superb volley into the corner.
With the pressure lifted, Bayern began to find more space. Nicolas Jackson—filling in for the absent Harry Kane—and Konrad Laimer both came close before the hosts doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time. Jackson turned sharply to launch a quick attack before feeding Díaz, who squared the ball across the box for Laimer to drive emphatically into the far corner.
The only blemish for Bayern in the opening period came at the break, when captain Manuel Neuer was forced off with a possible injury concern.
Gladbach briefly showed promise after the restart, but their hopes faded when Rocco Reitz hauled down Jackson while he was through on goal. Referee Robert Schröder pointed to the spot and produced a red card, reducing the visitors to 10 men. Jamal Musiala stepped up and calmly rolled in the penalty, marking his return from a lengthy injury with his first league goal of the season.
With the result effectively secured, Bayern introduced 17-year-old debutant Maycon Cardozo and continued to control proceedings. They added a fourth when Jackson turned Karl’s low cross into the six-yard box past the near post.
The travelling Gladbach supporters at least had a late moment to cheer. A quickly taken free-kick saw Fabio Chiarodia head against the post, and Wael Mohya reacted quickest to convert the rebound, becoming the club’s youngest-ever Bundesliga scorer.
The victory makes it five consecutive league wins for Bayern and moves them 14 points clear at the top ahead of the remainder of matchday 25. Attention now turns to the UEFA Champions League, where they face Atalanta in the next round.
Meanwhile, Gladbach must regroup quickly as they look to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle, sitting just three points above the play-off spot.
