Scott McTominay scored twice to help Napoli come from behind and secure a 2–2 draw against Inter Milan in a thrilling Serie A clash, marking the fourth draw in the last five head-to-head encounters between the sides.

Napoli started the game positively but fell behind in the ninth minute. A risky pass from Stanislav Lobotka was intercepted by Piotr Zielinski, who initiated a swift move that allowed Marcus Thuram to lay the ball off to Federico Dimarco. The full-back struck a precise shot off the inside of the post to give Inter an early lead.

The Nerazzurri continued to press, with slick combinations creating openings for Lautaro Martínez, whose scuffed effort was comfortably collected by Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. Hakan Calhanoglu also tested Napoli with a long-range strike that went narrowly wide.

Napoli responded in the 26th minute with a well-worked equaliser. Matteo Politano’s low cross found McTominay, who beat Manuel Akanji to the ball and fired a first-time finish into the net. Later in the half, McTominay’s pressing saw him dispossess Zielinski, though his follow-up shot was saved by Yann Sommer. Despite the setback, Inter remained dangerous, with Zielinski, Thuram, and Yann Bissek all seeing opportunities before half-time.

Early in the second half, Napoli had two good chances: Rasmus Hojlund’s shot grazed the post, while Giovanni Di Lorenzo miscued a header. Inter responded with efforts from Nicolo Barella, Hojlund, and Calhanoglu, but Napoli’s defence and some blocked shots kept the scores level.

Inter thought they had regained the lead in the 73rd minute when Amir Rrahmani fouled Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the box. Calhanoglu converted the resulting penalty, but the celebrations were tempered by Antonio Conte’s red card for furious protests.

Napoli quickly responded, and eight minutes later McTominay struck again. Noa Lang delivered a precise cross from Politano, allowing McTominay to finish for his second goal and restore parity.

In stoppage time, Mkhitaryan hit the post with a deflected shot, but Napoli held on for their second consecutive draw, reclaiming third place in Serie A. Inter’s six-game winning streak came to an end, though they remain top of the table by three points.
