Morocco claimed the Arab Cup title on Thursday with a dramatic 3–2 victory over Jordan after extra time, inspired by two goals from Abderrazzaq Hamed Allah and a stunning long-range opener from Oussama Tannane.

The Atlas Lions made a lightning start, opening the scoring just four minutes in when Tannane launched an audacious shot from the centre circle that caught Jordan goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila well off his line.

Jordan, who are preparing for their first-ever World Cup appearance in 2026, responded strongly after the break. Ali Olwan turned the match around with a second-half brace, heading home in the 48th minute before converting a penalty in the 68th to put his side ahead.

Morocco refused to be beaten, and Hamed Allah struck three minutes from full time to force extra time. The forward then proved decisive, finishing from close range to seal the trophy in a thrilling contest.

The triumph came despite Morocco missing several Europe-based players ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, underlining the country’s growing depth and strength.

Morocco’s recent success extends well beyond the Arab Cup. Three years ago in Qatar, they became the first African and Arab nation to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup, famously eliminating Spain and Portugal before losing to France.

At youth level, Morocco were crowned Under-20 world champions in October after defeating Argentina 2–0 in the final, becoming the first Arab nation to lift the trophy. Their under-17 team reached the World Cup quarter-finals, while the under-23 side won the Africa Cup of Nations and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they went on to claim bronze.

Morocco will look to continue their remarkable run when they host the Africa Cup of Nations from December 21 to January 18.
