Swieqi United produced a strong comeback to defeat Birkirkara 4–1 in Saturday’s opening fixture.

The Stripes made a flying start through Momo Ueda, but Swieqi responded quickly — Shona Zammit and Michaela Cachia turned the game around before half-time. In the second half, Salamatu Abdulai took charge, scoring twice in seven minutes — the first from the penalty spot — to seal a comprehensive victory for Dorianne Theuma’s side.

The Paolites wrapped up the points by half-time, storming to a five-goal lead with a Leah Ayres brace and strikes from Chisha Zulu, Cali Schechinger, and Suzanne Farrugia Sacco.
After the break, Zulu added her second before Sylivia Kabene rounded off the scoring, capping a commanding performance from Martina Borg’s team.
