Man Utd manager Carrick calls for reaction in Aston Villa clash

The Red Devils are targeting a fifth consecutive victory at Old Trafford under Carrick after enjoying a midweek break, while Villa were in action against Lille OSC in the UEFA Europa League.
Carrick has overseen six wins from his eight games in charge on an interim basis, guiding Manchester United up to third place in the table. He will now be aiming to maintain that position and secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Carrick pleased with Rogers’ progress
Carrick also spoke about Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, saying he is happy to see the young England international performing well under manager Unai Emery ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Carrick said it has been great to watch Rogers develop and succeed since his move earlier this year. He admitted he was unsure how the transition would work out at first, especially because Rogers had not been playing regularly during his time at Middlesbrough F.C..
However, the midfielder has quickly established himself at Villa, becoming an important player for both the club and the England national team. Carrick added that Rogers’ rapid progress shows how well he has adapted and grown.
The United boss said he enjoys seeing Rogers succeed, although he joked that things will be different when they face each other on the pitch. Carrick also praised Rogers’ character, describing him as a great person to work with and saying he is pleased to see him doing so well.
