Malta Women’s National Team set for Double Friendly against Croatia Ahead of 2026 Qualifiers

The Malta Women’s National Team will return to action next week with a double-header of international friendlies against Croatia. The matches will take place on Friday, 28th November at 19:00 and Monday, 1st December at 17:00, both at the Centenary Stadium. Supporters can also follow the action live on TVMSport+.
These fixtures form a key part of Malta’s preparations for the 2026 UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers, where Manuela Tesse’s side will compete in League B2 alongside Northern Ireland, Switzerland, and Turkey.
Head Coach Manuela Tesse is using this final international window of the year to evaluate player form, introduce emerging talent into the senior setup, and refine tactical approaches ahead of a challenging qualifying campaign.
Malta will face Croatia with several notable absences, including injured players Haley Bugeja, Fiona Buttigieg, Jana Barbara, and Charlene Zammit, who remain unavailable for selection. However, the squad receives a timely boost with the return of promising U19 forward Sara Saliba, who adds fresh depth to the attacking department.
Coach Tesse has highlighted the significance of these friendlies in maintaining the squad’s competitive rhythm and testing player adaptability. The matches are expected to offer valuable minutes to younger players, supporting Malta’s long-term aim of expanding squad depth and building continuity ahead of next year’s qualifiers.
Fans are encouraged to attend the matches in Ta’ Qali and continue showing their support as the team intensifies preparations for a demanding 2026 international schedule.
