The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta (ASA) has been entrusted with the organisation of the World Aquatics Men’s and Women’s World Cup Division II, marking another major milestone for the sport in Malta.

The prestigious international competitions will be staged across two venues, the Cottonera Indoor Pool and the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex. The Men’s World Cup Division II will take place between 7 and 13 April 2026, while the Women’s competition is scheduled for 21 to 26 April 2026.

The event will bring together a strong international field, with 26 nations competing in the men’s championship and 18 nations taking part in the women’s tournament. Teams from six continents are expected to travel to Malta, underlining the global significance of the competition and further enhancing the country’s reputation as a reliable host of major aquatic events.

ASA President Karl Izzo expressed his pride at Malta being selected to host the tournaments and extended a warm welcome to all those involved. He greeted the delegates, referees, athletes, coaches and team officials from the participating countries, highlighting their collective role in ensuring the success of the event.

Izzo also emphasised that hosting the World Cup Division II will not only deliver high-level international water polo action but will also play an important role in promoting and developing the sport locally. The competitions are expected to provide valuable exposure for Maltese water polo and inspire the next generation of athletes.

With top-class facilities, experienced organisers and a strong water polo tradition, Malta is set to provide an ideal stage for what promises to be an exciting celebration of international aquatic sport.
