Malta Futsal President Mark Borg appointed UEFA Delegate for Euro 2026 Finals

Malta Futsal Association President, Perit Mark Borg, has been appointed as a UEFA delegate for the prestigious 2026 UEFA Futsal European Championship Finals. This high-profile role marks a significant milestone as the first time a Maltese official has been entrusted with such a senior position at the final stage of a major European futsal championship.
The tournament, which runs from January 21 to February 7, is being jointly hosted by Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia.
Perit Borg has been assigned responsibility for Group D matches, which feature Italy, Hungary, Poland, and the reigning champions, Portugal. All fixtures in this group will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
In his capacity as the UEFA delegate, Borg will oversee the comprehensive organization of the matches, ensuring all operational, logistical, and safety aspects comply with stringent UEFA regulations and standards. His duties include supervising venue infrastructure, medical services, venue operations, and acting as a liaison between participating teams and UEFA.
Borg, who has served as President of the Malta Futsal Association for 13 years, has extensive experience with international fixtures and mini-tournaments, including UEFA Champions League matches. However, this appointment at the final stages of the Euro 2026 tournament highlights the significant confidence placed in his professional expertise by UEFA.
Commenting on the honor, Perit Borg described the role as a positive reflection on himself, the Malta Futsal Association, the Malta Football Association, and Maltese sport in general. He noted that Maltese futsal continues to earn growing respect at the international level, an achievement further strengthened by the recent appointment of Dr Paris to the UEFA Futsal Committee.
