The latest round of the MAFA First and Second Division championships saw intense competition across Malta’s amateur football scene, highlighted by a resilient display from Balluta Barracudas and a top-of-the-table clash in the Second Division.

MAFA First Division: Barracudas Show Grit

In their fourth outing of the season, Balluta Barracudas secured a hard-earned 1–1 draw against Valletta St Paul’s. The Citizens took an early lead through Juan Ortega Zarate, but the Barracudas refused to fold. Timmy Zammit Lupi netted a vital equalizer to earn his side their second point of the campaign. While still searching for their first win, the result provides a morale boost for the Barracudas. The match was handled by referee Lorry Sammut.

In another First Division fixture, Marsa St Michael delivered a commanding performance to defeat San Ġwann Pro Evolution 4–0. Japanese forward Yuya Emura was the star of the show with a brace, while Stiven Jeancol Uribe Rico and a penalty from Ali Oularbi completed the rout. The result marks the fourth consecutive defeat for San Ġwann, who remain at the bottom of the table without a point.


MAFA Second Division: Attard Edex Kings Win Five-Goal Thriller

The headline match of the Second Division saw league leaders Attard Edex Kings face off against Swieqi United AFC in a high-stakes encounter. Attard emerged victorious with a 3–2 win to consolidate their lead at the summit.

The game was a see-saw battle; Johan Rodriguez initially put Attard ahead before Julius Ifeanyi Offorzor equalized before half-time. Fayis Muhammed Valiyaparambath restored Attard’s lead after the break, only for Joao Victor Calilo Aiezza to pull Swieqi level once more. However, Miguel Acevedo found the decisive winner to secure all three points for the Kings.

Gudja Wanderers capitalized on Swieqi’s slip-up to climb into second place following a professional 2–0 victory over Ħamrun Sporting, with goals from Andres Santiago Maldonado and Marco Antonio Bravo Ortiz.

  • Naxxar Victorians celebrated their first victory of the season, edging Mqabba Albions 2–1. Goals from Jake Cachia and Liam Sciberras proved enough to overcome a single strike from Mqabba’s Miguel Grima.
  • Birżebbuġa St Peter’s AFC and St Paul’s Bay NMFC played out an entertaining 3–3 drawRonnie Celeste (2) and Oussama Boutayeb scored for the Saints, while Bishal Khawash (2) and Kanchan Shrestha ensured the points were shared for the northerners.
