Luis Díaz hits hat-trick as Bayern Munich rout 10-man Hoffenheim

Luis Díaz delivered a sensational performance, scoring a hat-trick and winning two penalties, as Bayern Munich returned to winning ways with a dominant 5–1 victory over 10-man Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena to re-establish their six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
Bayern’s grip on the title race had briefly loosened after back-to-back league games without a win allowed Borussia Dortmund to close the gap. With the pressure mounting, Vincent Kompany’s side began on the front foot, and Michael Olise forced Oliver Baumann into an early fingertip save from a fierce effort.
The breakthrough arrived inside 20 minutes when Kevin Akpoguma hauled down Díaz in the penalty area. The decision resulted in a red card and a spot-kick, which Harry Kane calmly converted to Baumann’s right.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Hoffenheim responded impressively and deservedly pulled level. Ozan Kabak headed narrowly wide before Fisnik Asllani rattled the crossbar, and moments later Bayern gifted the visitors an equaliser. Manuel Neuer was dispossessed by Asllani, who squared for Andrej Kramarić to finish into an empty net.
The visitors’ momentum was short-lived, however. Vladimír Coufal became the second Hoffenheim player to concede a penalty after bringing down Díaz, and Kane once again made no mistake from the spot to restore Bayern’s lead.
Bayern struck again in stoppage time before the break as Díaz cut inside and curled a composed right-footed finish beyond Baumann to give the hosts a commanding 3–1 advantage at half-time.
Hoffenheim threatened briefly after the restart, with Asllani denied by a sharp reflex save from Neuer, but Bayern were now in complete control. Olise slid a low pass into the six-yard box for Díaz to tap home Bayern’s fourth, before the Colombian sealed a memorable night by drilling a fine strike into the far corner from the edge of the area to complete his first Bundesliga hat-trick for the club.
The emphatic win keeps Dortmund at arm’s length following their victory over Wolfsburg, while Bayern extended their perfect record against Hoffenheim under Christian Ilzer, scoring at least four goals in each of the last four meetings.
For Hoffenheim, the defeat brought an abrupt end to a club-record five-game Bundesliga winning streak, but they will quickly turn their focus back to their push for UEFA Champions League qualification — and may be relieved to have this daunting fixture behind them.
