Liverpool receive major boost as Alisson returns to training before Forest clash

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is set to return to training this week ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest.
Forest’s visit to Anfield will signal the end of the international break and the beginning of a crucial stretch for manager Arne Slot, who faces mounting pressure to revive Liverpool’s faltering title defence. The reigning champions currently sit eighth in the table, one place below rivals Manchester United, marking a stark decline from last season’s standards.
But Slot has been handed a major boost before the weekend: the return of his first-choice goalkeeper.
Alisson has been sidelined since September 30 with a hamstring injury, a setback that gave summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili an extended run in the side — a spell in which the Georgian has earned praise from supporters.
Ahead of Liverpool’s recent trip to the Etihad, Slot confirmed the Brazilian’s progress:
“Alisson for sure. And I expect Jeremie (Frimpong) back after the international break as well because we play from November until March.
But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest. But with Alisson, we expect this, yes.”
According to The Standard, Alisson is expected to join full first-team training in the coming days as he looks to reclaim his No.1 spot under Slot, who will be eager to reintegrate him quickly.
Liverpool entered the international break on the back of a heavy 3–0 defeat to Manchester City, and with frustration growing among the home crowd, a win against Forest is vital for rebuilding confidence and momentum.
