Liverpool gear up for Brighton clash amid questions over Mohamed Salah’s future

All eyes are on Mohamed Salah as Liverpool prepare to host Brighton this weekend, with the forward’s future at Anfield shrouded in uncertainty. Manager Arne Slot is focused on shutting out distractions and readying his squad for the Premier League clash.
Salah has hinted that Saturday’s match could be his last for the Premier League champions. In an explosive interview, the Egyptian superstar criticized both Slot and the club hierarchy, raising fresh questions about his time at Liverpool.
Salah in the Spotlight
Rebuilding relations at Liverpool may be difficult for Salah unless he reconciles with Slot and the club. The 33-year-old accused Liverpool of “throwing him under the bus” and revealed he has no relationship with the Dutch manager after being left on the bench for last week’s 3-3 draw at Leeds—a third consecutive match he did not start.
Salah also missed Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Inter Milan, which Liverpool won 1-0, instead posting a photo of himself training alone in the gym.
Preparing to join the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, Salah has invited his family to the Brighton game. “I will be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and then head to the Africa Cup,” he told reporters. “I don’t know what will happen after that.”
While links to the Saudi Pro League continue to circulate, it remains unclear whether Salah will get the chance for a proper farewell. As Liverpool’s third-highest goalscorer of all time, he could end up leaving without another appearance in the red shirt.
Arsenal Host Struggling Wolves
Meanwhile, Premier League leaders Arsenal welcome winless Wolves to the Emirates. Wolves have lost their last eight matches and sit 13 points adrift of safety, on track for one of the league’s worst-ever seasons.
Arsenal, who suffered their first league defeat of the season against Aston Villa last week, rebounded with a 3-0 Champions League win over Club Brugge, marking six victories in six European games. Despite missing key defenders Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in recent matches, Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to dominate Wolves.
Crystal Palace Aim to Challenge Manchester City
In another London clash, Manchester City travel to face Crystal Palace. City, just two points behind Arsenal, are seeking their fifth consecutive win in all competitions.
Palace, under Oliver Glasner, have made a flying start to the season with 26 points from 15 matches—their best top-flight start in club history. Last May, Palace secured a shock FA Cup win over City, earning European qualification. They have already beaten Liverpool this season and now sit in the top four, aiming even higher.
City have never lost at Selhurst Park since 2015, but face a tough challenge against a Palace side boasting the league’s second-tightest defense, having conceded just 12 goals.
