Late Mayok Goal Earns Żabbar Point but Top Six Hopes End

Żabbar St. Patrick struck late to rescue a draw against Gżira United, but the point was not enough to keep their Top Six ambitions alive as they were mathematically confirmed in the Bottom Six for the second phase.
The result nevertheless extends a positive run under new coach Gilbert Agius, with Żabbar now unbeaten in four matches since his appointment.
Gżira move up to fourth place on 14 points, though their position in the Top Six remains uncertain with the race set to be decided over the final two rounds.
The Maroons had gone in front on 20 minutes through David Xuereb, who finished to give his side control of the match for long periods.
However, Żabbar continued to push and were rewarded in dramatic fashion when Ayom Mayok found the net in the 89th minute to secure a share of the spoils.
