The New York Knicks extended their NBA winning streak to eight games with a thrilling 134-127 double-overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, led by a 42-point performance from Jalen Brunson.

Karl-Anthony Towns added 24 points and 12 rebounds, while OG Anunoby contributed 20 points as the Knicks withstood a dominant showing from Denver’s Nikola Jokic, who recorded a triple-double of 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jamal Murray also scored 39 points for the Nuggets.

The first overtime saw New York take a 119-117 lead following Towns’s layup with 1:01 remaining. A missed three-pointer by Murray seemed to seal the win, but a loose-ball foul on Mikal Bridges allowed Christian Braun to sink two free throws, tying the game and forcing a second overtime.

“It was really mentally tough,” Brunson told ESPN. “We could have quit, but we found a way.”

Madison Square Garden witnessed 20 lead changes in a back-and-forth battle. In the second extra session, Murray briefly gave Denver the lead before Brunson converted a three-point play and added a three-pointer to put the Knicks ahead for good. “I just focus on the next play, not really focusing on what’s needed,” said Brunson, who scored 10 points in the second overtime. “Just trying to get one play at a time done.”

Jokic, returning from a 16-game injury absence and originally intended to play fewer than 30 minutes, logged over 44 minutes. He took a hard fall in the first quarter after stepping on Anunoby’s heel but remained in the game. Towns suffered a deep cut to his right eyelid after a collision with Denver’s Spencer Jones in the first quarter. After receiving treatment and making two free throws, he returned to play following stitches, while Jones left the game with a head contusion.

The Knicks’ eight-game streak is their longest since a nine-game run in 2024. At 33-18, they are tied for second in the Eastern Conference with the Boston Celtics, who defeated the Houston Rockets 114-93. Derrick White led Boston with 28 points, and Payton Pritchard added 27 off the bench despite the absence of Jaylen Brown, sidelined with hamstring and knee injuries.

Timberwolves Rally to Beat Raptors

Minnesota overcame an 18-point deficit to defeat the Toronto Raptors 128-126. Anthony Edwards scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter, including a steal and dunk with two minutes remaining to give the Timberwolves the lead for good. Minnesota trailed by 10 entering the final period but mounted a successful comeback to claim the victory.

Bucks Win in Overtime Without Giannis

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 141-137 in overtime despite superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo being sidelined with a right calf strain amid ongoing trade speculation ahead of Thursday’s deadline. Ryan Rollins led the team with 27 points, while seven Bucks players finished in double figures.
