Juventus edge past Udinese to reach Coppa Italia quarter-finals

Juventus secured a 2-0 victory over visiting Udinese on Tuesday to advance to the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, with goals coming from an own goal and a penalty.
In a tight contest that produced only two shots on target between the sides, Juventus opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Seventeen-year-old Udinese defender Matteo Palma, a Berlin-born Italian youth international, inadvertently turned Weston McKennie’s cross into his own net.
Palma later conceded a penalty in the 67th minute after fouling McKennie, which Manuel Locatelli converted to make it 2-0 and seal the win for Juventus.
Tuesday’s match kicked off the Italian Cup round of 16. Napoli and Inter Milan have home ties scheduled for Wednesday, while Thursday sees cup holders Bologna host Parma and Serie A leaders AC Milan travel to Lazio. The final remaining tie, between Roma and Torino, is set for January 13.
