Jimmy Butler ruled out for season after suffering torn ACL

Golden State Warriors star forward Jimmy Butler will miss the remainder of the 2025–26 NBA season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee during the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the Miami Heat.
The Warriors confirmed that a timetable for Butler’s surgery has yet to be determined.
“Obviously a gut punch on every level for Jimmy and the entire group, but I firmly believe this is part of the journey,” Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, said in a statement. “You can’t only take the good things from it. I’ve known for over 10 years now that Jimmy is going to win a championship before he’s done. My belief in that is unwavering.”
The injury adds to a growing list of right knee issues for the 36-year-old veteran. Butler previously tore his meniscus in the same knee during the 2018–19 season and suffered an MCL sprain last year.
Before the setback, Butler had been a key contributor for Golden State, averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists across 38 appearances this season.
The Warriors currently sit eighth in the Western Conference with a 25–19 record. With Butler sidelined, they face an uphill battle to climb into the top six and avoid the play-in tournament as the NBA Playoffs approach.
