Everton’s afternoon at Old Trafford descended into chaos early on as Idrissa Gana Gueye was sent off for clashing with his own teammate, Michael Keane.

The incident unfolded just 13 minutes into the match when the pair became embroiled in a heated exchange inside Everton’s penalty area. After Keane appeared to push Gueye during a moment of defensive confusion, the 36-year-old midfielder reacted by slapping the defender across the face.

Referee Tony Harrington immediately intervened and produced a straight red card, deeming Gueye’s actions violent conduct.

A visibly furious Gueye had to be restrained by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who pulled him away from Keane before the midfielder eventually made his way off the pitch.
