Houston Rockets rally to victory while San Antonio Spurs also claim win

San Antonio Spurs 138, Dallas Mavericks 125
Stephon Castle stole the show once again, posting a 40-point triple-double to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a fourth consecutive NBA victory with a 138-125 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
Castle, coming off a standout rookie season, finished with 40 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, along with three steals and a block. At just 21, he became the third-youngest player in NBA history to record a 40-point triple-double, trailing only LeBron James and Luka Doncic, and joined Hall of Famer David Robinson as the only Spurs to achieve the feat.
The forward was clinical in front of the basket, hitting 15 of 19 shots, as San Antonio secured its second win in three days over a struggling Dallas side that has now dropped seven straight games.
Devin Vassell contributed 17 points, while Victor Wembanyama added a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Spurs led 81-67 at halftime, setting the tone early.
For the Mavericks, Klay Thompson scored 19 points, and sensational rookie Cooper Flagg added 14, ending his four-game streak of 30-point performances. Flagg did not play in the fourth quarter due to a stiff back, according to coach Jason Kidd.
Castle’s milestone came midway through the fourth quarter with a put-back dunk, pushing San Antonio ahead 129-108.
“It felt good, but more importantly it felt good to do that knowing we were going to get the win as well,” Castle said.
Houston Rockets 112, Oklahoma City Thunder 106
The Houston Rockets rallied from a 15-point second-quarter deficit to beat the short-handed Oklahoma City Thunder 112-106, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Alperen Sengun delivered a triple-double, scoring 17 points with 12 rebounds and 11 assists, while Kevin Durant contributed 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Tari Eason led the Rockets with 26 points, and Jabari Smith Jr. added a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Durant reflected on the team’s turnaround:
“We started making shots. The first half we had good looks but weren’t knocking them down. Second half, we did.”
The Thunder, missing MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, saw Cason Wallace score 23 points and Isaiah Joe add 21 off the bench. Chet Holmgren returned from injury to add 17 points and 14 rebounds, but the team couldn’t maintain its early momentum.
