Historic Barnes OT heroics overshadowed as Thunder snap losing streak

Chet Holmgren powered Oklahoma City to a convincing 129-104 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, finishing with 29 points and nine rebounds as the NBA’s top team brought a two-game losing streak to an end.
Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was once again influential, contributing 27 points along with five assists, two steals and two rebounds as the Thunder improved their league-leading record to 27-5. Oklahoma City, who had dropped four of their previous six games, rediscovered their rhythm with a disciplined and authoritative performance.
“We just did a good job getting back to our style of play and our standards,” said Thunder reserve Andrew Wiggins, who scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. “It was about course-correcting and staying disciplined in the way we want to play.”
Wiggins also highlighted the impact of preparation, adding: “We had good recovery days and good practice. We made the right plays and stuck to it for the whole game. In the third quarter, we turned it up midway through and really got going.”
Despite the defeat, Philadelphia had several bright spots. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 28 points, while six teammates also reached double figures as the visitors slipped to a 16-14 record.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Scottie Barnes produced a historic performance to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 141-127 overtime win over the Golden State Warriors. Barnes recorded a remarkable triple-double of 23 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists, etching his name into Raptors history.
Immanuel Quickley added 27 points and Brandon Ingram chipped in with 26 as Toronto outlasted Golden State, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end despite a game-high 39 points from Stephen Curry.
The Raptors took control in overtime, opening the extra period with a decisive 10-0 run. Quickley scored five points in the stretch, while Barnes and Ingram each added four to ensure Toronto never looked back.
