Hawks send Trae Young to Wizards in major NBA trade

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is set to join the Washington Wizards after the two teams agreed on a trade that will send CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert to Atlanta, ESPN reported on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old, a four-time NBA All-Star, moves to Washington midway through his eighth season with the Hawks. According to ESPN, Young was eager for the move, which will reunite him with Wizards executive Travis Schlenk, the man who selected him in the 2018 NBA Draft.
The Wizards, who sit second from bottom in the Eastern Conference with a 10-26 record, see Young as a central figure in their long-term rebuilding plans.
Despite averaging just over 25 points per game across his NBA career, Young has endured a difficult campaign marked by injuries. Knee and thigh problems have limited him to just 10 appearances this season, and he has not played since suffering a right quadriceps contusion on December 27.
