Gianni Zahra, a 27-year-old Maltese rider, will be representing Malta at the 29th edition of the Festival International des Sports Extrêmes (FISE), one of the world’s largest and most prestigious urban sports festivals. The event will take place in Montpellier, France from 13th–17th May 2026, attracting some of the best riders and urban sports athletes from around the world.

Gianni has been riding for the past 15 years and has established himself as one of Malta’s leading BMX riders, consistently performing at a high level in both local and international competitions. Throughout his career, he has won multiple local competitions across different BMX disciplines, demonstrating both versatility and skill.

One of his most notable recent achievements came at URBENDURO MALTA 2024, an international competition hosted in Malta, where he achieved 2nd place overall and finished as the highest-ranking Maltese rider in the Open Men’s category.

Gianni also made history as the only Maltese rider to compete at the UCI BMX World Championships 2023 held in Glasgow, proudly representing Malta on one of the sport’s biggest international stages.

In addition to his competitive achievements, Gianni has been a long-standing member of the Maltese BMX community, actively contributing to the development of the sport locally and supporting and mentoring many younger riders who are beginning their journey in BMX.

Participation in FISE 2026 will provide Gianni with another opportunity to represent Malta internationally, showcasing Maltese talent on a global platform alongside some of the world’s best riders while continuing to inspire the next generation of athletes in Malta.
