Match Day 9 of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 1st Division saw significant shifts in the standings on Sunday, with Xewkija Tigers moving to the top of the table following a convincing victory, while Nadur Youngsters were routed by SK Victoria Wanderers.

SK Victoria Wanderers 6 – 0 Nadur Youngsters FC

SK Victoria Wanderers delivered a commanding performance at the Gozo Stadium to secure a 6-0 win over Nadur Youngsters. The victory was largely due to a dominant display by Ender Duvan Alvarez Vielma, who scored four goals.

Emerson Zammit opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Vielma then added two quick goals in the 20th and 24th minutes. Mustapha Lawal Amodu made it 4-0 before halftime. Vielma completed his hat-trick just after the break in the 49th minute and secured his fourth goal from the penalty spot in the 59th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for the Wanderers.

Qala Saints FC 1 – 4 Xewkija Tigers FC

Xewkija Tigers capitalized on the day’s results to leapfrog into first place with a solid 4-1 win over Qala Saints. Xewkija established an early lead with goals from Marcelo Junior Barbosa (26′) and Kenneth Mercieca (31′).

The match took a turn for the worse for Qala when Joseph Buttigieg received a red card in the 37th minute. Matthias Said extended Xewkija’s lead to 3-0 just before halftime. Qala managed a consolation goal in the 68th minute through Bruno Da Cruz, but Brian Alejandro Parada secured the 4-1 victory for Xewkija in the 76th minute.
