Getafe CF claimed a historic 1-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, securing three LaLiga points against Real Madrid for the first time since 2008 and dealing a blow to their rivals’ title ambitions.

Traveling with several key players missing and facing a ground where they had lost each of their last 16 league visits, Getafe approached the game cautiously. They owed much to goalkeeper David Soria, who kept them level in the first half. Vinicius Júnior capitalized on a mistake from Sebastián Boselli but was denied by Soria, while Arda Güler had a near-post effort saved after weaving into the box.

Despite Real’s early chances, the visitors struck first in spectacular fashion. Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni failed to clear a cross properly, allowing Martín Satriano to volley beautifully into the near top corner. It was Getafe’s first goal in five meetings with Real and only their second first-half strike in 18 LaLiga matches.

Getafe continued strongly into the second half, frustrating the hosts despite Real creating more opportunities. Substitutes Dean Huijsen and Rodrygo could not convert crosses from Franco Mastantuono, and Real struggled to break through the middle. Defensive solidity from Domingos Duarte, combined with Soria’s heroics, helped Getafe hold on for a memorable victory.

Late drama added to Real’s misery, with a red card shown to Mastantuono for dissent and a sending off for Adrián Lisó for kicking the ball away, but it did little to dampen Getafe’s historic triumph. The win moves them eight points clear of the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining, while Real fall four points behind LaLiga leaders FC Barcelona following the Catalans’ 4-1 victory over Villarreal.
