Victor Osimhen has undergone successful surgery on a broken arm, Galatasaray have confirmed.

The Nigeria international sustained a fracture to his right forearm during the club’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

Osimhen initially tried to continue despite the injury, but was substituted at half-time after medical staff noticed considerable swelling.

The Turkish champions later announced that the striker successfully underwent surgery on Monday.

In an official statement, the club said: “Our player Victor Osimhen, who was forced off due to injury during our away match against Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16, successfully underwent surgery today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, carried out by club doctor Op. Dr. Yener Ince.

“We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

While no exact return date has been confirmed, Victor Osimhen could be sidelined for over a month following the injury.

Providing an update, Galatasaray club doctor Yener Ince indicated that the striker’s rehabilitation will be closely tracked on a daily basis. He added that the medical team will take every necessary step to ensure a full recovery, with further updates to be communicated as the process continues.

Before undergoing surgery, Osimhen had already shared his expected recovery timeline during a Twitch livestream with influencer Carter Efe.

The forward suggested he could return within five to six weeks, explaining that recovery typically involves around four weeks of healing followed by a short period of individual training before rejoining the squad.

Osimhen also downplayed the severity of the injury, pointing to past experiences. He revealed he has previously endured more serious setbacks, including facial surgery that left him with multiple screws, making this latest issue comparatively minor.

Having scored 19 goals in 29 appearances this season, the Super Eagles striker remains a crucial figure for the team and is expected to miss a key league clash against Fenerbahçe on April 26.
