Frankfurt Break Into Bundesliga’s Top Six After 4-3 Victory Over Köln

Dino Toppmöller’s Eintracht Frankfurt extended their unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions after mounting an impressive comeback to defeat FC Köln 4–3 in a pulsating Bundesliga encounter.
In a clash between two sides pushing for European spots, Köln struck first in electric fashion. Jakub Kaminski opened the scoring after a high press forced Eintracht into a turnover, with Ragnar Ache teeing him up for a looping finish. Although the goal was initially ruled out for offside in the build-up, a swift VAR review overturned the decision and restored Köln’s early advantage.
Frankfurt, however, flipped the momentum before the interval with two goals in quick succession. Fares Chaibi delivered a pinpoint corner that Arthur Theate met with a towering header at the near post to level the match. Deep into stoppage time, Mahmoud Dahoud reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the area, guiding home his first Bundesliga goal of the campaign to send Eintracht into the break ahead.
The visitors carried that energy into the second half, and within minutes Jonathan Burkardt delivered a decisive brace. His first came from a sharp near-post run onto a whipped Ritsu Doan cross, before he produced a superb individual effort moments later—sitting down his defender and calmly finishing to ignite the travelling supporters and put Frankfurt 4–1 up.
But Köln refused to roll over, launching a spirited late surge. Marius Bülter finished a flowing team move to reduce the deficit, and Luca Waldschmidt’s classy header moments later set up a tense finale. Despite the mounting pressure, Frankfurt held firm through the closing minutes to secure all three points.
The victory lifts Eintracht Frankfurt into the Bundesliga’s UEFA Conference League qualification spot, while Köln are left to rue a valiant but ultimately insufficient comeback.
