Fiorentina have increased security measures and alerted local authorities after threats were directed at players, staff members, and their families in the wake of Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Sassuolo. The defeat left the club rooted to the bottom of Serie A, still searching for their first league win after 14 matches.

In an official statement, the club strongly denounced the intimidation, calling it “shameful and unacceptable,” and affirmed their full support for everyone affected within the organisation.

“This type of conduct has no place in football, or anywhere in society,” Fiorentina said on their website. “ACF Fiorentina would like to thank the many supporters who have already shown solidarity following these deplorable incidents, and we emphasise that intimidation, hatred and violence will never be tolerated.”

The team will try to put the off-field issues aside as they prepare to host Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, before returning to league action against Hellas Verona on Sunday.
