Ex-Arsenal forward Aliadière says Liverpool remind him of PSG’s Messi, Neymar and Mbappé team

Former Arsenal forward Jérémie Aliadière has compared Liverpool’s recent struggles to the star-studded but often disjointed Paris Saint-Germain side that featured Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé.
The Reds snapped a four-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a convincing 5-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, easing pressure on Arne Slot after a turbulent spell. The performance marked one of the first times this season Liverpool’s many new signings appeared to truly click.
Despite the win, Aliadière told WhichBookie that he still sees parallels between Liverpool and PSG’s past issues with chemistry and egos.
“I compare this Liverpool side to Paris Saint-Germain when they had Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé,” Aliadière said.
“You buy all these superstars, which excites the fans, but that doesn’t guarantee they’ll gel and work well together.”
Aliadière also warned that the influx of attacking players could unsettle Mohamed Salah, who remains the focal point of Liverpool’s attack.
“The signings are going to upset Salah. He’s been the main man at Liverpool — breaking records and being one of the best wingers in the league for years,” he continued.
“Bringing in players who also want to score goals doesn’t necessarily fit with what Salah wants. It was the same situation at PSG — the team sheet looked incredible, but it didn’t work. Right now, Liverpool are in that same position: struggling to make it all click.”
Wednesday’s win saw Hugo Ekitike score against his former club and Florian Wirtz register two assists, showing flashes of promise from Liverpool’s new recruits. Still, Aliadière believes consistency will be key if Slot’s men hope to challenge for the Premier League title.
“Intelligent players can work together — it just takes time. But time is something Liverpool don’t really have,” Aliadière added.
“Arsenal and Manchester City will keep winning, and if Liverpool can’t find form soon, they could be out of the title race within the next five weeks. Slot must find a way to balance the squad and keep everyone happy.”
