Jack Grealish will be unavailable for Everton this weekend, but optimism continues to build within the Merseyside club that they can secure the midfielder on a permanent deal next summer.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to life at Goodison Park following his loan move from Manchester City and is currently taking advantage of a short break during the international window.

Grealish was left out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad and will also be ineligible to feature in Everton’s next Premier League fixture, as they take on his parent club Manchester City.

The pause provides a moment for reflection on his impressive form since leaving Pep Guardiola’s side in search of regular first-team football. So far this season, Grealish has created 17 chances, registered four assists, and scored once in seven league appearances.

His performances — both on and off the pitch — have impressed Everton’s coaching staff, who believe they are well-positioned to make his move permanent.

Under the terms of his loan, Everton hold an option to buy Grealish for £50 million, though current indications suggest the club will aim to negotiate a lower fee should the move materialise.
