Yesterday, EquestriMalta, the Malta Racing Club and the Malta Equidrome announced the first two final races that will officially launch the 2026 racing season.

This coming weekend will see the staging of the EquestriMalta Grand Final, which will feature two races. The official draws for both races were released yesterday. One of the finals will bring together the top four horses from the Copper, Bronze and **S Categories, while the other final will see the top six horses from the Gold category compete against the top six from the Premier category.

Both finals will be held on Sunday, 18 January, and will form part of the fifth and eighth races on the day’s programme. Each final will feature 12 runners and will be contested over a distance of 2,160 metres.
