Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe insisted on Tuesday that he remains fully committed to the club, firmly dismissing speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Manchester United.

Manchester United parted ways with Ruben Amorim on Monday after 14 months in charge, following a controversial post-match interview after a 1-1 draw at Leeds. Howe has since emerged as one of the names mentioned as a potential long-term replacement at Old Trafford.

The 48-year-old had also been linked with the Chelsea role after Enzo Maresca’s departure last week, though the London club have since appointed Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s home match against Leeds, Howe was asked whether anything could tempt him away from St James’ Park.

“No, not at this current time,” he said. “For me, the most important things are happiness in the role, enjoyment of the job and the relationships I have with the people around me. Those things aren’t always guaranteed in football, and situations can change at any club.

“But right now, I’m very happy.”

Howe is in his fifth season as Newcastle manager and guided the club to their first major trophy in 56 years last season. The Magpies currently sit ninth in the Premier League table, just five points off the Champions League qualification places.

“I’m 100 percent here, working as hard as I can,” Howe added. “I keep my head down and ignore all the noise — whether it’s positive or negative — because it’s irrelevant.

“What matters is the work we do today and preparing the team as well as possible for Leeds. My commitment to my job and to this club has never changed.”
