Bayern Munich’s march toward the Bundesliga title faces renewed pressure as Borussia Dortmund closed the gap to six points with a 3-2 comeback victory over Heidenheim.

Dortmund, who had scored exactly three goals in each of their last four league games, struggled to create chances in the opening 20 minutes. Serhou Guirassy’s powerful cut-inside strike was the only effort on target, comfortably saved by Diant Ramaj.

Heidenheim nearly shocked the visitors midway through the first half when Patrick Mainka bundled the ball toward goal, but a foul on goalkeeper Gregor Kobel ruled it out. Kobel continued to be Dortmund’s hero, denying Eren Dinkci’s rebound attempt in the 26th minute.

Die Schwarzgelben finally broke the deadlock when Ramaj failed to claim a corner, leaving the ball at Waldemar Anton’s feet for a powerful finish. However, Heidenheim struck back on the stroke of half-time: Mathias Honsak drove down the left and crossed for Julian Niehues, who scored on his second attempt.

The visitors came out of the break with renewed confidence after Frank Schmidt introduced Arijon Ibrahimovic, and it paid off almost immediately. The winger slalomed through Dortmund’s defence before laying the ball off to Niehues, who drilled in from 25 yards to put Heidenheim ahead again.

Dortmund’s equaliser came via a VAR-awarded penalty in the 65th minute after Niklas Dorsch’s handball was spotted. Guirassy converted, beating Ramaj, and completed the turnaround moments later with a second goal following a clever feed from Maximilian Beier down the left.

Guirassy had the chance for a hat-trick from a late penalty after being fouled by Tim Siersleben but sent it over the bar. Still, his two goals were enough to secure the win, extending Dortmund’s unbeaten league run to 12 games and keeping them in the hunt for the Meisterschale.

Heidenheim remain winless in head-to-head encounters with Dortmund and are five points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table.
