Como move up to fifth in Serie A following dominant home win over struggling Lecce

Como bounced back from an early setback to secure a 3-1 victory over struggling Lecce in their Serie A clash, leaving the Salentini with just one win in their last eight league away games.
Seeking to close in on the UEFA Champions League places, Como started brightly as Anastasios Douvikas charged at goal, forcing Wladimiro Falcone into a strong save with his feet.
However, Lecce struck first in the 13th minute when Lassana Coulibaly headed home Lameck Banda’s inswinging cross at the back post.
The lead lasted only five minutes, as Douvikas turned in a close-range finish following a clever pass from Jesús Rodríguez. Como then took control in the 35th minute, with Rodríguez scoring himself after being slipped through on goal and calmly rounding Falcone.
Before halftime, Marc-Oliver Kempf put Como further ahead with a diving header from a floated set-piece delivered by Lucas Da Cunha, making it 3-1 and giving Cesc Fàbregas’ side a commanding position at the break.
The second half saw Como dominate possession, limiting Lecce to few clear chances. Douvikas came close with a header, and a flowing team move ended with Nico Paz unable to extend the lead further. Lecce substitutes Álvaro Morata and Assane Diao were denied by Falcone, but Como maintained control to see out a well-earned win.
The victory, only Como’s second at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in six Serie A matches (D2, L2), lifts them above Juventus into fifth place, just two points shy of fourth-placed AS Roma.
For Lecce, the chance to record back-to-back away wins in the top flight for the first time since February 2023 slipped away, leaving them potentially three points adrift of safety depending on other results this weekend.
