Chelsea have been fined £150,000 after a plastic bottle was thrown from the club’s technical area toward Aston Villa’s staff following Villa’s 2–1 Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge last month, the Football Association confirmed on Friday.

The fine was imposed by an independent regulatory commission after Chelsea admitted to the charge, the FA said in a statement.

Chelsea were charged earlier this month over the incident, which occurred as Aston Villa celebrated their win on December 27. Media reports said the bottle, believed to have contained water, was thrown during the post-match celebrations.

Referee Stuart Atwell detailed the incident in his match report, stating that he had been informed an unidentified member of Chelsea’s technical area threw a plastic drinks bottle in the direction of the Aston Villa technical area.
